Blackhawks trade Nick Schmaltz to the Coyotes

The Chicago Blackhawks are pretty familiar with the Arizona Coyotes.

The Blackhawks have traded former first-round pick Nick Schmaltz to the Phoneix Coyotes for forwards Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini.

Strome, third overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry draft, has three goals and three assists so far this season. He is also a former linemate of Alex DeBrincat during their time with the Erie Otters in the OHL in 2016-2017. He is signed through the 2019-20 season with a $863,333 salary cap hit.

Perlini, 2 goals and 4 assists in 22 games this season, scored 17 goals for the Coyotes last season in his first full NHL season.  He has one year left on his contract with a $863,333 cap hit.
