The biggest need for the Bulls was a point guard. And John Paxson got one.

The Chicago Bulls have selected Coby White seventh overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

White, 19, averaged 16.1 points 4.1 assists in 35 games as a freshman at North Carolina. At 6′ 5″, 185 lb, White is an explosive player who likes to attack the basket. He shot 35.3% from three and 42.3% from the field.

When you turn on the film on White, he has the ability to knockdown the outside shot, attack and finish at the rim. White ranked 8th in ESPN top 100 in made threes per 40 minutes and led the nation’s eight most efficient offense in the country. He can spot up, shoot off the dribble and come off screens and make shots. In addition, it is hard to miss his speed in transition. His quickness, along with his height, is why he is such an intriguing prospect.

White will join an already tall lineup in Chicago. Zach LaVine stands at 6′ 5″, Otto Porter at 6′ 8″, Wendell Carter Jr. at 6′ 10″ and Lauri Markkanen at an even seven feet. It’s certainly a recipe for success having a tall, versatile lineup.

The Bulls come away filling a need on the roster. White is an electric player and should be a solid starter in the NBA given his size and playmaking ability. And the Bulls starting lineup adds another young player as they continue to work through the rebuild and getting back to the playoffs.
