General Manager Ryan Pace traded up again in the draft with the Eagles to select Wide Receiver Darnell Mooney from Tulane with the 173rd overall pick.
There was a lot of speculation that the Bears would select a receiver with one of their second round picks given the deep class in this year’s draft. KJ Hamler, Denzel Mims, and Van Jefferson were all on the board at one point when the Bears were on the clock Friday night. Instead, they waited and grabbed Mooney in the fifth round.
Mooney ran a 4.38 40 time and his straight line speed is ridiculous. The Bears desperately needed a “burner” to throw to down the field, especially with the departure of Taylor Gabriel. Mooney will join Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Riley Ridley, and Javon Wims in the Bears offense.
